Chita Traditionnelle Portugais

La « Chita d'Alcobaça » est la toile de coton imprimé la plus connue du Portugal, elle illustre notamment une grande partie de l'histoire entre l'Europe et l'Inde qui compte désormais plus de 500 ans. La production des toiles a été très combattue dans toute l'Europe, elle a même été interdite. « La première manufacture d'impression sur coton, au Portugal, naît de l'association d'un Anglais et d'un Hollandais, en 1690. En Europe, ce type de manufacture existait déjà dans des pays comme l'Angleterre, la France, la Hollande et l'Allemagne. On croit, cependant, que la tradition des toiles d'Alcobaça remonte au XVe siècle. » - in Suplemento do JL, N.º 819, Ano XXI.
